The
Morro's Fortress was built by the year 1630, and it's a construction very
evolved for its time. Completely made of stones, sand and whale oil, nowadays
it's very visited by being an ideal place for reconstructing the island's history.
It's also the chossen place for lovers to look at the sunset and, with
some luck, see the dolphins jumping with the last sunbeams. There
is a small beach behind the fortress, that is basically a big natural
pool, good for who looks for peace while spending time in the sun.
The
Lighthouse is located at the top of the morro, and is 200 meters from
Nossa Senhora da Luz Church. It's an excellent place for taking pictures.
From there it is possible to get the idea of how Morro is constituted: vila,
beaches, hills, houses, pousadas, beauty and, essentially, human heat and
peace.
Located
at the west side of Morro, it is a beach with intense green-blue waters,
with a superb tranquility. It's an ideal place for living. It has houses of
welcoming architecture, surrounded by nature: sea, rocks, vegetation, earth
(there is a clay hill, excellent for skin care). This beach is the
way to go from Morro to Gamboa town.
Gamboa
is one of the 5 towns in Tinharé Island. It is still a fishermen's
village, smaller than Morro, but every year it grows up, due to the big
quantity of people from many countries that decide to live or pass their vacations
there.
It is a beautiful place, and is getting more popular because of its tranquility
and welcoming people.
It is the area with
the biggest concentration of restaurants, bars, stores, tourism agencies
and drinks.
You can spend a good while at Fom's pastries and Caipi of Joe, where guitars
and percussion are played until high hours at night.
